Secular Values In Action

Secular Spring Break: Bahamas

Helping Rebuild Abaco Island

This spring break, members of the Secular Student Alliance will help rebuild the community of Abaco Island, Bahamas, from the devastation and destruction caused by Hurricane Dorian.  Your donation directly assists students in participation and transportation costs.

Repairing and rebuilding Homes: A considerable number of homes sustained tremendous damage. Repairs are carried out following resiliency guidelines and may include installing drywall, insulation, painting, flooring, and more. When working on roofs, we will abide by Resilient Roofing Standards to ensure any roof that we repair is both up to code, as well as sustainable enough to withstand another hurricane of 150MPH or less.

Repairing community infrastructure: Community infrastructure outside of the home or schools may still be an important element of daily life in an area after natural disasters. We are working to rebuild, repair and restore community facilities that sustained major damage during Hurricane Dorain.
